3 Faces of Evil - Erythnul Exposed
Episode 4: February 21, 2008
After a couple of days of rest and recuperation, the party decide to investigate the strange non-appearence of Dourstone, of Dourstone mines, based on the information given by Balabar Smenk. As they approach the Dourstone manor, they immediatly become suspicious as the grounds are obviously unkept and uninhabited. They call out to the house, to no avail, and it is then that they notice the door slightly ajar. Under this pretense, they make there way inside and make a glossary search oif the inside and the grounds for any signs of the dwarven master. No staff is seen either. Teh house has been obviously long since been used as layer of dust is just starting to cover everything. Everythign is wide open except for a locked door leading into the basement. Once the nimble fingers of the rogue make way with the lock, the team discover a crude carved set of stairs leading into darkness. Bravely they venture forth and discover a newly carved set of crude stone steps that lead down and 80 ft later into a wall. The elf quickly makes a cursury examination and opens up the secret door.
The party go through the door and discover they are within the underground temple and facing the 2nd door, that of Erythnul, which is open. PArty formation and tally ho !! They go forward into the darkness. With Cleric and Mage brandishing torches, the party find themselves within a 5 ft wide passage that descends to the left about 40ft. They then emerge into a stalgtite and stalgmite filled chamber where they are quickly attacked by strange non-eyed grey creatures who seem to come out of the wall without being seen
Battle Fight Battle and victory..but a baying is heard from down the other side of the chamber where they find another passageway. They continue along and get accosted by 2 large hyena dog like creatures. As they ponder these ugly brutes, the dogs pull back their facial skin revealing a frightfull scene of skull and teeth. It is so frightfull that all but the brave rogue (?) flee back the way they came. Eventually the rogue follows his compatriots and a repositioning is in order. With hearts strengthened and a resolve to see the deed done, the party burst back into the next chamber and against the onslaught of the enemy. Alongside the creatures, a kennel master has appeared to harrass the party. It is close but EVENTUALLY the party wins but not without suffering great humiliation and close deaths
The other side of this chamber is occupied by a 20ft chasm, but a ladder leads off of the side and descends to the ground 45 ft below. As the Mage jumps off the side, bearing his ring of featherfall, the Fighter makes his way down the ladder as well as the rogue. The Archer continues to scan from the top providing cover as the Cleric starts to make his way down. Unfortunately, he does not see the super hidy sneaky creatures that throw caltraps onto the cleric and ladder blocking his way. A huge battel ensues between 2 creature archers and 1 melee creature. Just as the tide seems to turn into the party's favor, a large barbarian version jumps from the ledge above and wreaks havoc within the party. Dropping the rogue, the fighter and then makin her way towards the mage. The cleric got in the way but only temporarily before he too falls to the might of the barbarian. It is the ARcher that saves the day, as he combined with the revitalised cleric and fighter FINALLY make due and vanquish the barbarian. Here the party rests to lick their wounds.
